Kathryn B. “Kitsy” Wortmann
NEW SEWICKLEY TOWNSHIP, Pa., — Kathryn B. “Kitsy” Wortmann, 60, New Sewickley Township, Pa., died Oct. 9, 2018, at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pa.
Visitation will be Oct. 18, at Holy Family (Sts. Peter and Paul) Catholic Church, Bow Valley, from 5-8 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday morning, at church, one hour prior to services.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family (Sts. Peter and Paul) Catholic Church, Bow Valley, with the Rev. Eric Olsen officiating.
Burial will be at the Hartington City Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.
Pallbearers will be Mitch Ballou, James M. Buchanan, Ken Buller, John Reese, Todd Reese and Andy Fox.
Honorary pallbearers will be Janet Lagergren, Jeri Clouston, Mary Bender, Alice Jones, Pat Range and Kim Fox.
Kitsy was born March 3, 1958, in Sioux City, Iowa to Leo James and Hazel (Rodgers) Buchanan. She grew up in Hartington and was a 1976 graduate of Hartington High School. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, in 1980. Kitsy married Steven Wortmann June 14, 1980, in Bow Valley. She and Steve lived in Salina, Kan.; Parker, Colo.; and in Freedom, Pa. Kitsy worked for the Sioux City Journal, the Norfolk Daily News, and at Kansas Wesleyan. She was a member at St. Ferdinand’s Catholic Church, Cranberry Twp., Pa., and the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. Kitsy was a homemaker, a loving wife and mother. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
Kitsy is survived by her husband, Steven G. Wortmann; her son and daughter, Steven Leo Wortmann and Paige Kathryn Wortmann, New Sewickley Township; and her siblings, James Rodger Buchanan, Omaha, and Judith Buchanan, Lennox, S.D.
Kitsy was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Hazel Buchanan; and sister-in-law, Dorthea “Dotti” Buchanan.
Memorial donations can be sent in Kitsy’s name to the American Diabetes Association.
