LaVerne Hattie Warneke
STANTON — LaVerne Hattie Warneke, 93, Stanton, died Oct. 10, 2018, on her 93rd birthday, at Stanton Health Center, Stanton.
Visitation was Saturday until service time at the church, under direction of Shultz-Vogel-Johnson Mortuary, Stanton.
Funeral services were Oct. 13 at Faith Lutheran Church, Stanton, with Rev. Timoth Booth officiating.
Interment was in Buffalo Creek Cemetery, rural Tilden.
Pallbearers were Adam Butterfield, Aric Butterfield, Steven Svitak, Stephanie Cohn, Rachael Thomas, Ben Butterfield and Joe Butterfield.
LaVerne was born Oct. 10, 1925, at Winside, to Reinhold and Emma (Miller) Harms. She attended rural school near Tilden. She married Harry Warneke Jan. 5, 1950, at her parents’ home near Tilden. The couple made their home on a farm near Pierce, then Tilden and later McLean, before they retired in 1982, when moving to Stanton. LaVerne had worked at area nursing homes, and as a nurse’s aide at Wausa Nursing Home and Norfolk Nursing Center.
Her memberships include Faith Lutheran Church, Stanton, and formerly a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, rural Tilden, and Immanuel Lutheran Church, Osmond.
Surviving LaVerne are four daughters, Julene and Ronald Butterfield, Stanton; Ardith and Douglas Svitak, Howells; Brenda and Kenneth Thomas, Stanton; Debbie Warneke, Stanton; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, Adam and Colleen Butterfield and Ben, Joe, Bekah and Dan, Stanton; Stephanie and Ross Cohn and Lily, Madison; Nicholas and Jessica, Norfolk; Aric and Mary Beth Butterfield and Ada, Wisner; Steven and Miranda Svitak and Barrett, Dakota and Benelli, Leigh; and Rachael Thomas, Stanton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry, Aug. 20, 2005; one son, Roland Dean Warneke; one brother, Ewald Harms; and one sister, Delores Klamert.
