S.D. man is extradited, faces local charges
HARTINGTON - A wanted South Dakota man was arrested in Cedar County and faces additional drug charges here.
Matthew Plummer, 37, Tyndall, S.D., was arrested after Cedar County deputies were called to the Meridian Bridge to the report of a man slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle there.
A knock on the vehicle window roused Plummer who appeared to deputies as being confused and looking around. Deputies found a prescription pill container containing a leafy substance and a strong odor of marijuana. A search of the vehicle also located a glass pipe with a white crystal residue suspected to contain methamphetamine.
During booking, deputies learned Plummer to be under parole supervision in South Dakota for possession of a controlled substance and also out of jail on bond in South Dakota for drug charges.
Plummer posted bond in Cedar County and waived extradition back to South Dakota. He is set to appear in Nebraska for preliminary hearing on June 20 on charges of felony possession of methamphetamine. Possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia are infractions.
