Wynot blanks Allen for fourth straight win
WYNOT — The Wynot Blue Devils ran their winning streak to four in a row Friday, easily dispatching the Allen Eagles 41-0.
The Blue Devils dominated both sides of the ball in the first half as they once again got off to a fast start building a 34-0 lead by halftime and shortening the game with a running clock most of the second half.
The Wynot offense was led by the Dylan Heine to Carson Wieseler combo.
Wieseler finished with seven catches for 130 yards touchdowns of 37,48 and eight yards.
Zack Foxhoven and Colin Wieseler each had short touchdown runs and Jack Kuchta also had a touchdown catch.
On defense Wynot was led by Colin Wieseler and Zack Foxhoven with six tackles each. Charlie Schroeder finished with five tackles including two sacks and Tyler Nicke had a pair of fumble recoveries.
Allen’s offense was paced by Braxton McCorkindale who finished with 75 yards on nine carries and Nathan Oswald with 25 yards rushing and 108 passing.
Allen’s defense got a solid game from Joe Grone and Gabe Reinert with nine tackles each.
The Devils shot out of the gates as on their third play from scrimmage Dylan Heine found Carson Wieseler on a deep crossing route and 37 yards later Wynot was on the scoreboard. Chase Schroeder added the PAT kick to give Wynot the 7-0 lead.
Allen went three-and-out on their third offensive possession. Wynot countered by striking from long range. Carson Wieseler found an opening in the Eagles secondary and Dylan Heine hit him for a 48-yard scoring bomb. Wieseler also ran in the two-pointer for a 15-0 Wynot lead.
Carson Wieseler also contributed on defense as he stopped Allen’s next drive with an interception to end the opening quarter.
In the early going of the second quarter neither team could sustain a drive. At the seven-minute mark the Blue Devils got good field position after a shanked punt by the Eagles gave them the ball at their own 39 yard-line.
A pair of first down runs by Zack Foxhoven and a first down catch by Colin Wieseler moved the ball into the Eagles red zone. Carson Wieseler picked up his third touchdown catch on an eight-yard scoring toss. The PAT kick was good by Chase Schroeder making the score 22-0
Wynot added two more scores before the half. The first came after a fumble recovery by the Blue Devils Tyler Nicke. It took only one play for Wynot to score as Foxhoven swept the right side for a 17-yard TD run. The PAT kick was blocked making it 28-0.
The second score came late when as 35 yard catch and run by Charlie
Schroeder set up a 4 yard touchdown catch by Jack Kuchta with just 11 second left in the half. The PAT kick was wide left but the Blue Devils were in command leading 34-0 at the break.
At the mid-point of the third quarter the Devils added their final score. Set up by a pair of first down runs by Zack Foxhoven of 9 and 16 yards along with a 10-yard catch by Joesph Sudbeck that moved the sticks and put Wynot in the red zone again. Colin Wieseler powered in from three yards out to cap the drive. The PAT kick made it 41-0.
With a running clock the rest of the way the reserves came in to finish the game. The younger group’s defense continued to play well as they held Allen scoreless in the final quarter and half.
“This was the most complete game our players have had this year but they will need to continue to work hard to finish the season,” commented Wynot head coach Steve Heimes.
