Cedar girls wrap up golf season at District meet
NORFOLK — The Cedar Catholic girls golf season came to an end at the District C2-3 meet here Monday.
Cedar finished the day in seventh place. The top three teams from each District advance to next week’s State Meet in Columbus.
West Point Beemer won the meet for the second year in a row. The LCC Bears girls golf team earned District runner-up honors.
The Lady Bears were led on the day by junior Sarah Karnes. Karnes started the day with a 43, and finished with a 47 for a teamleading 90.
Karnes’ 90 wasn’t only good enough to lead her team, but it was also one of the best rounds of the day, trailing only West Point Beemer medalist Brook Diekemper, who fired an 82. The State Tourney will be played next week in Columbus.
Cedar was led by Maci Schommer’s 102. Mya Dickes turned in a round of 126, while Kristine Becker had a 129. Jenna Wiebelhaus finished the day with a 132, while Katherine Lammers’ 142 rounded out the scoring.
LCC’s Delaney Hall also fared well, carding a 98 on the day. She was followed by Bear teammate Hope Swanson, who earned a 107. Maddy Graham’s 115 rounded out the scoring for the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge squad.
“They were hungry and wanted to get back to state after getting there last year,” Laurel-Concord-Coleridge coach Christina Patefield said. “They have worked hard all summer and all season.”
