Area schools announce their end-of-school year plans
HARTINGTON — Area school administrators have their fingers crossed.
When school began last August, no one knew for sure if the COVID-19 safety measures area schools were forced to adopt would work or not. With only a few weeks left in the school year, area schools are now making plans for the final events of the year and hoping that no COVID-19 break-outs take place here so all activities can go on as planned.
Wynot is the first school to graduate students in the Class of 2021 this year.
Wynot seniors will be dismissed for the year Wednesday, April 28. The pre-k and kindergarten students will have their last day of school April 29. The last day of school for all other Wynot students is May 7.
Wynot High School graduation ceremonies are planned for Saturday, May 1, at 5 p.m., in the school gym.
Baccalaureate Mass for all students who attend Holy Trinity Catholic Church will be held at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, May 2.
Cedar Catholic will hold its Senior Breakfast and Senior Mass Tuesday, May 4. The day will then end with the high school awards ceremony that night.
Graduation will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 8, in the Msgr. Werner Activity Center.
Holy Trinity Kindergartners will graduate May 18 during a special Mass at Holy Trinity.
The last day of school for Holy Trinity and Cedar Catholic students will be Wednesday, May 19, with a 12- noon dismissal.
Hartington-Newcastle students will have their annual school awards night May 4.
HNS seniors will have their last day of school Monday, May 10, with graduation ceremonies planned for Saturday, May 15, at 1 p.m.
The HNS Kindergarten students will have their graduation ceremonies Thursday, May 13, at 7 p.m. The last day of school for all other HNS students is Wednesday May 19 at noon.
