Magnet man accused of sexual assault
HASTINGS — A Magnet man faces a felony sexual assault charge after he allegedly had sex with an underage girl in Hastings.
Sage Stolpe, 20, is being charged in Adams County for the alleged incident that occurred in May.
According to court documents, Stolpe met the 15-year-old girl through social media and drove to Hastings to pick her up. The alleged sexual encounter occurred in the vehicle while parked in a rural area of Adams County.
Stolpe allegedly told investigators that the girl told him she was 18 and it was only after the sexual encounter that he learned her real age.
The Cedar County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
In other court news, a Yankton, S.D., man faces a felony charge of making terroristic threats and a misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace after he allegedly made a verbal threat that he would cut another man’s head off with a hatchet at the Meridian Campground near Crofton Aug. 5. The man had a backpack but did not produce a weapon.
Adrian Brewer, 39, was arrested after he fled from law enforcement who arrived at the campground. He allegedly beat on windows and vehicles in the area during the incident.
His next court appearance is set for Sept. 7.
