LCC cross country runners compete at Crofton

CROFTON - The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge cross country teams traveled to Crofton Sept. 26 for the Crofton Invitational at Lakeview Golf Course north of Crofton.

The Bears placed seventh in the boys race while the Lady Bears were fifth in the girls race.

Norfolk Catholic won the boys’ division of the race with 29 team points, Wayne was second with 31, Bloomfield/ Wausa was third with 48 and Crofton was fourth with 74.

Laurel-Concord-Coleridge scored 97 team points.

Preston Rose was the top Bear on the 5-kilometer course coming in 16th with a time of 19-minutes 33.13-seconds.

Carter Korth and Shane Langford were 25th and 26th respectively, John McDermott was 40th, Luke Jackson was 47th and Sebastian Van Drongelen was 49th.

The Lady Bears were fifth in the team standings in the girls race with 66 points.

Crofton won the team title with a cumulative score of 34, six spots better than runner-up, Wayne.

South Sioux City was third with 58 and Hartington-Newcastle was fourth with 63.

Kate Tasler got in the medals with a sixth-place showing with a time of 22:52.51.

Callie Fischer of Lutheran High Northeast won the individual gold with a time of 21:34.37, Claire Guthmiller of Bon Homme was second in 22:13.52.

Addy Hoeppner placed 18th for LCC, Abbie Brummels was 27th, Leah Gould was 29th and Ava Christiansen secured 41st. The Bears and Lady Bears are scheduled to run in the Stanton Invitational on Oct. 3 before running in the Greater Northeast Activities Conference Meet in Plainview on Oct. 10.
