Donald Duane Bremer
OCEANSIDE, Calif. — Donald Duane Bremer, 83, died at his home in Oceanside, Calif., Jan. 14, 2018, surrounded by his family. A viewing was held Jan. 28 at Forest Lawn, Covina, Calif. Friends and family were also invited to attend a Memorial Service and reception at First Christian Church, Pomona, Calif., Jan. 29. Donald was born in Sioux City, Iowa, to parents Donald F. Bremer and Irma M. Bremer. Don’s family moved to Laurel, during his high school years. Friends he made then remained in contact throughout the years. Don served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict with the first NIKE Guided Missile Group. Don earned a bachelor’s degree through Wayne State College and a master’s degree from CSU Los Angeles. He also did post-graduate work with Iowa State University and UC Riverside. He served as an educator with Chino Unified Schools for some 35 years and especially enjoyed his time and principal of Boys Republic High School, Chino. Throughout his life, Don enjoyed working with youth, participating in activities with scouting, Little League and church. He was a dedicated Rotarian and served in Rotary Chair positions in Chino and Big Bear Lake. He is survived by Carol, his wife of 62 years; sons, Douglas, Robert and Kevin: daughters-in-law, Debbie, Debra and Kelly; grandchildren, Christopher, Steven, Eric, Austin, Matthew, Candice and Danielle; great-grandchildren, John, Sarah, Samuel, Kaedyn and Sawyer; and sister, Janet. In lieu of flowers, donations were made to Boys Republic, Chino Hills, for its scholarship program.
