Charges dismissed in Wynot fugitive incident
YANKTON, S.D. — All charges have been dismissed against a Yankton S.D. man who was the cause of a two-day manhunt near Wynot in August.
Nathan Murphree, 34, was set to appear for a jury trial Monday but instead the charges were dismissed.
Tyler Larsen, deputy states attorney in Yankton County, declined to comment on why the charges - felony aggravated alluding and two misdemeanors - were dismissed.
Murphree was being pursued by South Dakota law enforcement into Cedar County east of Wynot on Highway 12. At that time, the sheriff’s office successfully deployed a tire deflation device and Murphree fled on foot into a corn field. An extensive search of the area was conducted on the ground using officers and K-9s as well as in the air but Murphree was not located until an observant citizen recognized him and dialed 911.
