LAUREL — Three sets of twins are graduating this year from Laurel High School.
They are Keith and Kendall Kardell, Milo and Milton Boysen and finally, Don and Donna Benjamin. May 28, 1959
LAUREL — A mother-daughter banquet was held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on May 19.
About 138 people attended the event.

LAUREL — Workmen unloaded the newest addition to the Laurel municipal power plant.
The motor will be pressed into service soon to keep up with the electrical demands of the growing town.

CONCORD — A Memorial Day service will be held this upcoming Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at the Concord cemetery. Rev. A. J. Collins will be presenting the main address.

COLERIDGE — Linda Hansen, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Hansen, was named as the valedictorian at Coleridge High School for the 1958-59 academic year.

COLERIDGE — Alice Swan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Swan, Coleridge, tied the knot with Merton Marshall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Marshall, Hartington, on May 22 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church here.

COLERIDGE — Ruth Martensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Martensen, was named salutatorian at Coleridge High School for the 1958-59 school year.

COLERIDGE — Thirty-one students are currently enrolled in the Methodist Bible School here. They School meets each afternoon for two weeks. The theme this year is “Jesus, the Promised Savior.”

OSMOND — Mrs. Tom Craig fell at her home this past Saturday and sprained both of her ankles. She is currently being treated at the hospital in Osmond.

COLERIDGE — The Methodist Youth Fellowship held a Family Night at the Methodist Church Wednesday night. About 20 people attended the event.

COLERIDGE — Melia Joy Collins, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Collins, was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church Sunday. Pastor Marvin Rothfusz officiated the ceremony.

LAUREL — Cheryl Haisch, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Haisch, was named valedictorian this year at the Laurel High School commencement exercises held last Thursday.

LAUREL — The Laurel swimming pool will open for business this Friday, weather permitting. The original date was supposed to be Saturday but was changed due to the Memorial Day holiday.

LAUREL — The F & C 4-H Club met at the home of Warren Patefield on May 13. Demonstrations on how to make a raw vegetable plate and jello salad were presented to the group. Following the business meeting, lunch was served by Vicky and Roxanne Christensen.

LAUREL — Mr. and Mrs. Clarence McCaw entertained a group of friends and family at their home last Thursday in honor of their daughter Esther, who recently graduated from Laurel High School.

HARTINGTON — The Cedar County Fair received a nice surprise with a $500 check from Ak-Sar-Ben to help construct some restrooms and shower facilities on the fairgrounds.
