LCC administrators are preparing for Aug. 19 opening

LAUREL — Laurel-Concord-Coleridge School Board learned at their July 13 meeting that school will open here Aug. 19 with necessary health considerations in place. Eleven faculty are participating as an advisory group.

The school will be ready in case a move would be needed to do remote learning. No option will be offered at this time for remote learning. The focus is on in-person learning.

The Nebraska School Activities Association will meet in two weeks and will have suggested guidelines available.

Also Monday, the Board approved a budget amendment due to the CoronaVirus. The school received revenue from the Cares Act and the USDA. Expenditures were unusual due to the virus obligations.

Four applications for the TeamMates Program Coordinator position have been received. Interviews for the three selected will be conducted the week of July 20.

An amendment was approved to increase educational service unit nursing services because of virus challenges. Nursing services will be needed four days per week for an increase of $18,700.

The State Board of Education has approved and accredited the school district for the 2020-21 school year indicating that the school has met or exceeded all requirements.
