Hilaria Gertrude “Dickie” Burbach
HARTINGTON — Hilaria Gertrude “Dickie” Burbach, 90, Hartington, died peacefully April 6, 2020, at home, surrounded by her nine children.
Due to the current healthcare guidelines, a private Mass of Christian Burial was held for Dickie April 8 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with Rev. Owen Korte officiating.
Private family burial was at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Hartington.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.
Pallbearers were Adam Burbach, Kendra Burbach, Alan Goodenberger, Brent Albers, Austin Burbach, Christian Burbach, Deacon Burbach, Jacob Williamson and Paige Gobel.
Dickie was born Aug. 4, 1929, Crofton, to Joseph Charles and Theresa Bernadette (Guenther) Maly. She grew up in Crofton and graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1947. Dickie received her teaching certificate and taught in various country schools in the Crofton area for eight years. Dickie married Marlen Burbach June 19, 1957. The two farmed west of Hartington and moved into Hartington in 1998.
Dickie was a member of the Holy Trinity Guild, Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters of America. She and Marlen held a perpetual hour of adoration for nearly 40 years. She was also a member of the Rose Hill Card Club.
Dickie enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, canning, playing cards, crocheting, and playing with her grandchildren, especially doing puzzles and creating playdough farms. She and Marlen loved to travel to visit families and enjoyed many trips together.
She is survived by her nine children, Raleigh and Christine Burbach, Hartington; David and Kim Burbach, Green Bay, Wis.; Marlene and Paul Goodenberger, McCook; Joan and Doug Albers, Randolph; Rodney and Linda Burbach, Edwardsville, Ill.; Dale and Vicki Burbach, Elkhorn; Dean and Lisa Burbach, Hartington; Diane and Mark Williamson, Lake Winnebago, Mo.; Linda and Keith Gobel, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; 35 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles and Mariellen Maly, Crofton; and brother-in-law, Bernard Burbach, Norfolk.
Dickie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marlen, April 9, 2010, at the age of 77; an infant daughter; granddaughter, Jordyn Gobel; four sisters, Genevieve Bender, Betty Becker, Geraldine Bruening, Virginia Lange; and three brothers, Dr. Jim Maly, Dr. Ron Maly and Paul Maly.
