COLERIDGE — Virginia M. Fox, 85, Coleridge, died Feb. 5, 2018, at the Park View Haven Nursing Home, Coleridge. Visitation was Wednesday at the Wintz Funeral Home, Coleridge, and continued Thursday at the church. Funeral Services were Feb. 8 at the Pilgrim Congregational UCC, Coleridge, with Rev. Gary Kimm officiating. Burial was in the Coleridge Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Dave Fox Jr., Tim Puntney, Zachary Fox, Ryan Stone, Craig Lordemann, Chris Yunker, Dan Marquis, Anthony Shearer, Tyler Steenken, Al Foote, Craig Schultz and Travis Lear. Honorary pallbearers were granddaughters and granddaughters-in-law, Alisha Stone, Jenny Fox, Melissa Lordemann, Megan Shearer, Kelli Fox, Joni Schultz, Traci Foote, Michelle Marquis, Pam Yunker, Anslee Steenken, Kim Puntney and Bella Fox. Eva Virginia Mae Fox was born May 10, 1932, to Frank William and Cecil Marie (Fiscus) Wittler in Hartington. She was married to George M. Fox Jr. Aug. 20, 1950, in Hartington. She grew up in the Hartington area and graduated from Hartington High School in 1948. She worked at the Cedar County News Office, Hartington, from 1948 to 1951. George and Virginia moved to a farm in 1951, where they farmed until 1963. They moved to Coleridge in the fall of 1963, where they owned and operated the Coleridge Lanes from 1963-1985. In 1965, she was hired as Executive Director of Ridge View Manor, Coleridge, retiring in 2008. She was a member of the Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ, Coleridge, and served as secretary/treasurer for many years, retiring in 2011. Virginia was a life-time member of the Coleridge American Legion Auxiliary Post 114 and the Hartington VFW Auxiliary Post 5283. She enjoyed bowling for over 50 years and traveled to many state and national tournaments during that time. Virginia was a resident of The Embers, Coleridge, for five years and moved to Park View Haven in 2016. Survivors include three sons and one daughter, Dave and June Fox, Wisner; Randy and Linda Fox, Coleridge; Cynthia and Kelvin Puntney, Carroll; and Gene Fox, San Antonio, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Nancy Wittler, Claremont, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, April 8, 2003, at the age of 75; her parents; parents-in-law, George Sr. and Neva Fox; two brothers, Rev. Melvin Wittler and Duane Wittler; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wendell and Annabelle Haahr. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Pilgrim Congregational UCC in Coleridge.
