Hartington man dies in Monday accident

HARTINGTON — Jake Keiter, 86, Hartington, died Tuesday as the result of injuries suffered in a Monday accident.

The accident occurred just before 5:30 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Nebraska Highway 12 and U.S. Highway 81.

Cedar County Sheriff Larry Koranda said the east-bound pickup driven by Jacob Keiter failed to stop at the intersection and collided with a south-bound pickup driven by 45-year-old Shane Pedersen, of Pierce.

Keiter was taken to a hospital in Yankton, S.D. and then transferred to a hospital in Sioux Falls.
