Mary A. Van Buskirk

DIXON — Mary A. Van Buskirk, 72, Dixon, died Jan. 25, 2019, at a local hospital.

Visitation with the family present will begin at 9:30 a.m., Feb. 2, prior to the memorial services.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m., Feb. 2, at Mohr Funeral Home, South Sioux City.

Mary was born May 1, 1946, in Lincoln, to Robert and Marian (Robinson) Elliott.  She graduated from Ponca High School in 1963, and majored in music theory at Wayne State College.  She worked as a legal secretary for John Addison for many years, taught sewing and quilting classes, did catering work, and was very involved in animal rescue.

She loved sewing and quilting and earned Grand Champion awards for her projects several years at the Dixon County Fair.  She also loved animals and cooking.

Survivors include her husband, Alan Van Buskirk, Dixon; four children; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Judy Stenwall-Garfinkel, and her husband, Guy, Custer, S.D.; one niece; and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, David Stenwall; and nephew/godson, Steven Stenwall.
