Leading the way for the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears was Preston Rose. Rose covered the 5,000 meter course in 18-minutes, 47.58-seconds which was good enough for eighth.

Rose, a senior, has been helping along his younger teammates.

“I’ve tried to show my teammates that there are a lot of different ways to train besides putting in a bunch of miles,” he said. “You need to recover from a hard performance or hard workout and its not just drinking water, you need to get some electrolytes in your body as well.”

He even mentioned the awareness level of nutrition and hydration has changed and improved during his career.

“When I first started running you just made sure you put in the miles and drank a lot of water, but I noticed my times were just kind of sitting where they were without improving. I studied some things and started taking care of my body after meets and workouts and my times started to go down.”

Teammate, Carter Korth was just one spot out of the medals in 16th, Shane Langford was 19th, John Mc-Dermott was 41st and Sebastian Van Drongelen was 46th.

In the girls’ division, Ava Brennan from Ponca was first in 20:22.45 a couple of Pender runners, Kyla Krusemark and Megan Bretbarth were second and third.
