Cedar golfers compete at Laurel, Wayne
WAYNE — The Cedar Catholic girls golf team is quickly gaining e xperience as they competed in two meets last week.
The Cedar girls competed in a triangular in Laurel on Tuesday, then travelled to Wayne Friday for a tourney.
Josie Heine paced the Cedar golfers at the Laurel course, firing a 49 to finish in seventh place. Wayne’s Charli Sievers fired a 40 to win the event.
Lauren Potts, Maggie Dendinger and Camryn Loecker also finished in the Top 15 for Cedar. Potts shot a 53 for 11th place, while Dendinger carded a 56 for 14th and Loecker trailed with a 57. Olivia Kleinschmit also competed at Laurel for the Cedar girls.
Cedar took fifth place honors at Friday’s Wayne meet. Wayne’s Joslyn Johnson easily out-distanced the field on her home course to earn medalist honors with an 80. Rylee Altwine of Pierce came in second with an 89 on the day. Two other Wayne golfers, Hallie Heithold and Charli Sievers, followed her in to finish in third and fourth place, respectively.
The Lady Trojans were led by Camryn Loecker, who fired a 111 to finish in 11th place. Potts finished two strokes behind her in 24th. Josie Heine’s 115 put her in 28th place, while Maggie Dendinger recorded a 116 for 29th place.
Cedar took part in a dual at Crofton Tuesday and will travel to the Stanton Invitational on Thursday. Next week’s action features a triangular at Norfolk Catholic on Sept. 10. On Monday, Sept. 16, the Lady Trojans will travel to Battle Creek for an invitational. On Thursday, Sept. 19, the Cedar girls are on the road again, this time on their way to Pierce for another triangular.
