Strom hopes to follow in his father's footsteps
HARTINGTON – South Sioux City native Elijah Strom is excited to start his teaching career at Hartington-Newcastle Public School.
The 2024 University of Nebraska-Lincoln graduate is teaching 7-12 Industrial Technology at HNS. He will also be helping with boys basketball as an assistant coach.
It's a perfect fit for Strom, who earned an Agricultural Educa tion degree and an endorsement in skilled and technical sciences education from UNL.
Strom wasn't sure what he wanted to go into after college, but during his sophomore year at UNL, he realized that he'd always admired the work his dad — Todd Strom — was doing.
The senior Strom was principal at Crofton High School before taking the school superintendent's position with the South Sioux City School District.
'Since I grew up in an education family with my dad being a long time administrator, it has always been in the back of my mind being a teacher,' he said. 'My dad has been a great role model for me in the teaching profession. He has helped guide me in the direction I need to go and has always had the answers to all of my questions. '
