Patrecia Lavon Brodersen

HARTINGTON — Patrecia Lavon Brodersen, 86, Hartington, died peacefully July 28, 2024, at Arbor Care Center, Hartington.

Funeral services will be Aug. 5, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hartington, with the Rev. Amanda Talley officiating. Burial will be at the Hartington City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Breinenger, Scott Lentz, Norvel Lentz, Dave Hansen, Curtis Brodersen and Avery Brodersen. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Grace Breininger, Clara Breininger and Abby Brodersen.

Visitation will be Sunday, from 4-6 p.m., at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. Visitation will continue Monday, one hour prior to services.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.

Patrecia Lavon was born Jan. 7, 1938, in Beulah, N.D., to Henry Herman and Mary Thelma (Gordon) Peach. Patrecia was the oldest of four siblings. She enjoyed the role of big sister and helped in raising her three younger brothers, Henry, Fred and Louie Peach. The family relocated to Monroe, in 1944, and she graduated from Monroe High School in 1956. Patrecia continued her education at Wayne State College to gain a teaching degree. She began her career in Hyannis, and later taught in the picturesque Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming. It was during her time in the Rocky Mountains that Patrecia’s love for horses and the cowboy way became deeply ingrained in her life, shaping her passion for the rest of her days.

During her time in Wyoming, Patrecia developed a pen pal relationship with Roger Brodersen. Their friendship blossomed, leading to their marriage in 1973. Pat entered a new chapter of her life as a devoted farmer’s wife and loving mother to Mary (Breininger) and Justin Brodersen. Alongside her roles at home, Pat opened a ceramic shop in the basement of her house, became involved in her church, Trinity Lutheran, Hartington, and dedicated herself to her children’s lives. She served as a Girl Scout leader, contributed to 4-H clubs, and found joy in participating in neighborhood extension and card clubs.

Pat had an unwavering love for travel and her extended family. Every year, she made it a priority to attend the Peach family reunion, which rotated between various locations including Oklahoma, Colorado, Missouri, and Nebraska. When it was her turn to host the reunion, she made sure to showcase her beloved horses, inviting guests to ride and admire them. Pat also made regular trips to Wyoming to reconnect with friends she had made during her time as a teacher in the mountains. Her passion for Appaloosa horses remained steadfast throughout her life. In her younger years, she participated in rodeos with her horse Dusty Rose. As she grew older and started a family, she engaged in horse shows, trail rides, and 4-H activities. Pat always exuded excitement when meeting fellow horse enthusiasts and eagerly engaged in conversations on the subject. She served as a mentor to many individuals interested in the hobby, sharing her knowledge and passion throughout her lifetime.

Patrecia is survived by her husband of 50 years, Roger Brodersen, and their two children, Mary (and Jason) Breininger, Moreland Hills, Ohio, and Justin (and Katie) Brodersen, Omaha; her cherished grandchildren, Avery and Abby Brodersen, and Grace and Clara Breininger; her brothers, Fred (and Mary) Peach and Louie (and Rita) Peach.

Patrecia was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Thelma Peach, as well as her brother, Henry Peach.
