Lady Wildcats sweep foes to open new season
RANDOLPH - The Lady Wildcats moved down to Class D1 this year, and on Saturday at the Randolph Quadrangular, the team showed why they earned preseason Top 10 ratings from both the Omaha World-Herald and Lincoln Journal Star.
The HNS Wildcats won six straight sets against Randolph, Winside, and Howells-Dodge, with an experienced group of hitters leading the way.
Junior Abbe Morten and sophomore Kayden Jueden started strong against Randolph with seven kills apiece. Jueden continued that into the match against Winside, leading the team with eight. Senior Belle Harms then had a field day against Howells-Dodge on her way to finishing with 15 kills in the match.
This trio saw plenty of time together last season when the Lady Wildcats went 23-6 before losing in Sub-Districts. HNS also returns senior setter Liby Lange, who jumped right into a rhythm with 16 set assists against Randolph, 17 against Winside, and 18 against Howells-Dodge.
