DeKay leads in District 40 race
LINCOLN – Though the race was not over as of late Tuesday night, Barry DeKay of Niobrara was ahead of Keith Kube of Crofton for the Legislative District 40 seat.
As of press time, DeKay had received 8,785 votes from across the district, while Kube had earned 5,644 votes, though only 33 out of 56 precincts had reported their unofficial results at the time.
Legislative District 40 covers Antelope, Cedar, Holt and Knox counties, as well as parts of Dixon and Pierce counties.
In Antelope County, DeKay gained 1,216 votes, while Kube finished with 1,021 votes.
In Cedar County, DeKay received 1,851 votes, while Kube earned 1,751 votes.
In Holt County, DeKay gained 2,611 votes, while Kube finished with 1,174 votes.
In Knox County, DeKay received 2,550 votes while Kube earned 1,085 votes.
In Pierce County, Kube gained 607 votes while DeKay finished with 557 votes.
Dixon County went to Kube, who earned 834 votes, while Barry DeKay garnered 681 votes.
