FFA officers learn new rolls
AURORA —The Hartington-Newcastle FFA chapter officers headed to Aurora May 24-26 for Chapter Officer Leadership Training. All officers were able to attend COLT this year, so they were able to get officer pictures, and practice opening and closing ceremonies together. The main reason chapter officers attend COL
T is to learn what they’re all supposed to do with their officer position and further their knowledge about FFA. COLT included meeting with their officer groups, chapter officer team meetings, flag lowering and raising, a banquet, reflections, organized rec time, chapter ceremony competitions, a dance, and a flashlight relay. The officers figured out some plans for the summer, started making T-shirts, and figured out their committees. All together they created goals for the school year, how they would achieve these goals, and started planning activities. During organized recreation the officers made up their own volleyball team, and even though none of the officers actually play volleyball, they turned out to be pretty good. As for the opening and closing ceremony competition, the officers didn’t do very well, but there were definitely some laughs, and they’ll make sure they know their parts for next time
