Wins push Wynot Expos above .500
WYNOT — The Wynot Expos swept two contests, beating Menno 13-3 in eight innings in Wynot and winning 4-3 at Freeman.
The Expos are now 3-2. They played Yankton Sunday and Lesterville Tuesday in a make-up contest.
Against Menno, Jalen Wieseler went 4-for-5 at the plate with four RBI and a home run. The Expos scored five times in the first inning to break out to a 5-1 lead as they cruised to the win behind 18 hits.
“We need to continue with the hitting being consistent,” coach Lee Heimes said.
Dain Whitmire pitched six innings giving up one earned run, and three hits.
Landon Wieseler pitched two innings of shutout ball in relief.
In the win at Freeman, Jackson Sudbeck went the distance in a six-hit effort from the bump.
Sudbeck added two doubles and two RBI and Devon Lammers’ two-run, pinch-hit homer made the difference.
Jalen Wieseler went 2-for-5 and Heimes added a 2-for-4 performance.
“We played very good defensively with no errors,” Heimes said. “We need to continue to lower our strikeouts and put the ball in play more.”
The Expos are in action again Sunday when they host rival Crofton in another big South Central League contest.
