Outgoing Chamber President Honored, Discussion on Upcoming Activities
HARTINGTON — Chamber of Commerce members said Wednesday they are anxious to resume many of the events they put on each year.
Chamber members agreed at their annual monthly meeting that Chamber Cheers — an after-hours cocktail hour for Chamber members, should resume as soon as possible.
Chamber President Karen Flamig also said she hopes the annual Easter Egg Hunt will be able to return to normal this year. Last year a drive-by Easter Egg give-away was held instead of the Easter Egg Hunt.
Also at Wednesday’s meeting, it was noted there are currently 128 active Chamber business members. That number is expected to increase as the annual dues comes in.
Flamig noted KL Beef, and J and H Cleaning of Yankton also joined the Chamber in February.
The Chamber’s annual budget was also approved at the meeting.
Flamig said the Chamber is looking for new ideas and new ways to promote the community and local businesses.
The annual Harlington Economic Development Corporation meeting was held in conjunction with the Chamber meeting.
Economic Development is guided by a 12-member board. Each member serves a three-year term.
Four board members were up for re-election this year. Brandon Bailer, Ryan Creamer and Mike Lammers all agreed to seek another term, while Jesse Hochstein declined another term.
Bailer, Creamer and Lammers were all elected to another term. There were no nominations from the floor to fill the vacant seat, however.
The Economic Development Board President Chris Miller said the board will now seek candidates for that slot and appoint someone.
