Yvonne Marie “Bonnie” Kneifl Becker
NORFOLK — Yvonne Marie “Bonnie” Kneifl Becker, 87, Norfolk, surrounded by her loving family, died Jan. 2, 2018, at Edgewood Vista, Norfolk.
Visitation was Jan. 5, followed by a vigil service, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Mass of Christian Burial was Jan. 6 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Norfolk. Rev. Daniel Andrews was the celebrant, with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk.
Home for Funerals, Norfolk, was in charge of arrangements.
Bonnie was born May 21, 1930, at her parent’s home in Hartington. She was the daughter of Mathew and Madeline (Dreesen) Kneifl. She graduated from Holy Trinity High School and worked in Hartington until her marriage to Marvin Becker Oct. 25, 1949. In 1956, they moved to Norfolk to raise their family.
Bonnie enjoyed taking care of her family and lived her life for her children and husband. She worked at Style Shoppe, JC Penney and retired from the Norfolk Public School after serving many years as a “lunch lady” at the junior high school.
She was very active in the Sacred Heart School and parish including Catholic Daughters, Altar Society, and her favorite, singing in the church choir. Bonnie served as an EME and distributed the Eucharist to the Veteran’s Home residents for many years. She will be remembered for her exceptional home cooking especially banana bread and cookies; her strength of spirit, her fun loving attitude and love for her family and friends.
Bonnie is survived by her eight children, Kathleen and John Kitner, Independence, Iowa; Rhonda and Bill Oertwich, Mansfield, Texas; Amy and Frank Vross, Spring, Texas; Neal and Johanna Becker, Norfolk; Shelly Miday, Spring, Texas; Layne and Sondra Becker, Norfolk; Lisa and Dale Rosendahl, Columbus; and Michael and Shealyn Becker, Waddell, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years; one daughter, Cindy; her parents and four brothers.
