Wynot rolls past Randolph in blowout win

The Wynot Blue Devils evened their season record Friday when they rolled to a 50-12 win over the Randolph Cardinals.
The Blue Devil passing game was clicking as most of their scoring came on long touchdown completions.
Braydon Hans was the offensive star for Wynot with touchdown catches of 68, 60, and 33 yards. Andrew Haberman helped fuel the offense with a pair of touchdowns of his own for the Blue Devils. Gage Jensen had a rushing touchdown for the Cardinals and Bentley Riemers had Randolph’s other score.
On defense Wynot was led by Nixson Heimes with seven tackles and an interception. Jed Nelson and Carter Hans each had five stops Randolph’s defense was anchored by Gage Nelson and Shaw Backer with nine and eight tackles respectively.
The Cardinal offense was led by Gage Jensen who rushed for 47 yards and Dayton Winkelbauer who passed for 47 yards.
Wynot put together an opening drive helped by a 17 yard run for a first down by Lane Heimes and 15 yarder by Andrew Haberman the Blue Devils moved deep into Cardinal territory. Haberman would turn up the right side and score from 18 yards out. Alec Sudbeck caught the PAT pass as Wynot lead early 8-0.
Randolph answered on their offensive possession. Luke Harder split the Blue Devil defense for a big 49-yard gain. Gage Jensen took the option pitch around the right side for the 13-yard touchdown. The PAT run was stopped.
Wynot’s Braylon Hans would get behind the Cardinals defense and Devin Brummer hit him in stride as the two connected on a 33 yard score. The PAT run was stopped and the Blue Devils led 14-6.
Nixson Heimes would stop the Cardinals next possession with an interception at the 23 yard line.
Devin Brummer would hit Carter Hans from 36 yards away for Wynot’s third score of the first quarter. Then Alex Hans grabbed the PAT pass in a seam up the middle as Wynot lead had grown to 22-6 at the end of the opening period.
Wynot offensive fire works continued in the second quarter. A first down catch by Alec Sudbeck and a first down run by Lane Heimes continued to chew up yardage for the Blue Devils. Braylon Hans would cap the drive on a 33 yard touchdown toss from Devin Brummer. Alex Sudbeck was the go to guy for extra point as his PAT catch ballooned Wynot score to 30-6.
Wynot added another touchdown to their totals. This one was a 68 yard bomb to Braylon Hans for his third score of the first half. The PAT run was stopped but Wynot was rolling 36-6.
The Blue Devils would put up one more scoring drive with just 1:17 left before halftime. Andrew Haberman would go up high in the endzone for the 54 yard touchdown catch.
The PAT pass was no good and the Blue Devils were in command leading 42-6 at halftime.
The second half moved along quickly with the running clock. Wynot kept the ball on the ground and capped their next drive on a 2 yard plunge by Lane Heimes. Jed Nelson caught the PAT pass as Wynot lead 50-2 at the end of the third quarter.
Reserves mopped up in the final quarter. The Cardinals would get the final score of the night at the four-minute mark on an 11-yard touchdown pass to Bentley Riemers. The PAT was stopped making the final score 50-12.
The Blue Devils moved to 2-2 with the win and will play Lyons Decatur Northeast for their Homecoming game next week on Friday.
