Wynot proposed budget tripled
WYNOT — The Wynot Village Board is hoping to make some much-needed improvements in town, but it comes with a price tag.
The Village of Wynot’s budget request for this fiscal year is nearly triple that of last year and comes with a triplet of projects included in the request - $350,000 for a new well; $150,000 for street repair and replacement; and $80,000 for a garbage truck.
“We’re trying to be pro-active,” said Board Chairman Michael Klug. “You can Band-aid problems for years and years and years. After you Band-aid the fourth or fifth time, it would’ve been cheaper to do it right the first time. We want to be smart with the money and replace things as they come up.”
Klug understands that some residents may be in sticker shock over the 143 percent increase in this year’s budget.
“We’ll probably have some questions,” he said. “But we’re trying to keep things rolling and keep the town improving.”
The public can be heard at the budget hearing set for 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the village office.
