Wildcats sweep Wausa Invite titles
PIERCE — For the first time this season, Hartington-Newcastle boys and girls track teams both earned a win at the Wausa Invite in Pierce on Saturday. The HNS girls were able to escape with a win by just half a point over Wausa, while the boys won by over 30 points.
The HNS boys placed first in nine of the 17 events. Cole Schmidt led the way winning all four of the events he competed in. Schmidt won the 100 and 200 meter dashes, and the long and triple jumps. Brian Santiago won the 1600 and 3200 meter runs, Turner Korth won the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles, and Lincoln McPhillips won the high jump.
