Wildcats hold off Wynot for District win
WYNOT — The Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats controlled the tempo of their football game at Wynot on Friday night for the better part of three quarters only to see the Blue Devils rally in the fourth quarter and make a game of it. The Wildcats would hold on with clock management late in the game for the 25-20 win. The Wildcats record improved to 4-2 while the Blue Devils fell to 2-4 for the season.
Hartington-Newcastle was led by the combination of Shaye Morten to Lincoln McPhillips as the two connected for a trio of touchdown passes. Ethan Koch had the other rushing touchdown for the Wildcats.
Wynot was paced by Landon Wieseler who threw for 93 yards and ran for another 72 yards on the night. Nate wieseler continues his steady play as he rusched for 118 yards to help the Blue Devils offense.
On defense for the wildcats they were led by Morgan Koch and Turner Korth with 13 tackles each. Lincoln McPhillips had an interception as well for Hartington-Newcastle.
Defensive leaders for the Blue Devils were Nate Wieseler with 11 stops and Hunter Heimes with nine tackles.
