Vernon W. Hansen
PHOENIX, Ariz.— Vernon W. Hansen, 82, Phoenix, Ariz., died Aug. 27, 2021, at Scottsdale Village Square Senior Living Community, Scottsdale, after battling Parkinson’s Disease and Dementia.
A special memorial service will be held Oct. 4, from 12-3 p.m., in Phoenix.
Vern was born May 25, 1939, in Coleridge, to Ivan M. Hansen and Dora B. (Papenhausen) Hansen. Vern was baptized in May 1939. He graduated from Coleridge High School in 1957, and served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959. Vern married Dorothy (Goff) Hansen Nov. 21, 1974, and they lived in Omaha, until 1991. Vern and Dorothy then moved and settled into the Phoenix area. Vern worked all his life as a skilled carpenter; a trade he did very well and in which he took great pride.
Vern enjoyed his carpentry work, country music, western movies, playing cards, billiards, cornhole, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his brother, Don Hansen, and sister-in-law, Linda Hansen, Coleridge; son, Scott Hansen, and daughter-in-law, Tammy Hansen, Phoenix, Ariz.; step-daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Smith, Omaha; Dawn and Gordon Yontz, Phoenix, Ariz.; and Gail and Bob Krejci, Elkhorn; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Ivan and Dora Hansen; his wife, Dorothy Hansen; and his brother, Ken Hansen.
