Three-point shots drop Cedar
LINCOLN - The eight seed Cedar Catholic Lady Trojans gave the top seed Hastings St. Cecilia a good contest in the first round of the State Tournament, but could not complete the upset, losing 49-41. Defense was the name of the game, allowing Cedar to comeback and grab the lead twice before the Hawkettes took the lead for good.
The Lady Trojans had a slow start, finding themselves down 10-0, but Cedar took control to tie the game 11-11 at the end of the opening quarter. Junior Maddie Wieseler led the way for Cedar, scoring the first seven points in the initial comeback. Wieseler finished the game with seven points.
Junior Jada Cattau joined Wieseler on the scoreboard with a steal and layup to tie the game at 11-11. Cattau finished with eight steals on the night, and led Cedar with 12 points on the night. Cattau grabbed the lead for the Lady Trojans in the third quarter on another steal and layup.
