Teresa D. “Terrie” Bowder
Teresa Bowder NORFOLK — Mass of Christian Burial for Teresa D. “Terrie” Bowder, 71, Norfolk, was Feb. 28 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Norfolk.
Rev. Gregory Carl was celebrant, with burial following the luncheon in St. Boniface Cemetery, Menominee.
Visitation and a Rosary were Monday at the church.
Brockhaus-Howser-Fillmer Funeral Home, Norfolk, was in charge of arrangements.
Teresa D. “Terrie” (Schroeder) Bowder died Feb. 22, 2023, at Faith Regional Health Services, Norfolk, after a long battle with cancer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother, Roy.
Teresa was the oldest daughter of Roman and Mildred Schroeder. She was born Nov. 2, 1951, in Yankton, S.D. Teresa graduated from grade school at St. Boniface School, Menominee. She then graduated from Yankton Public High School in 1970. Teresa attended and graduated from Wayne State College in 1974. Teresa married Rodney D. Bowder Aug. 24, 1974, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Menominee. They were blessed with four children, Meghann (Brian) Bowder Buresh, Norfolk; Jessica Bowder, Lincoln: Ryan (Paige) Bowder, Omaha; and Mary Bowder, Omaha; including five precious grandchildren, Brianna Buresh and Blake Buresh, and Eva Bowder, Grace Bowder and Tommy Bowder.
Her siblings are Ron (Lisa) Schroeder, Crofton; Monica (Jerry) Hain, Norfolk; Romaine (Bob) Kappel, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Roger (Sheryl), Yankton, S.D.; Rick (Gina) Schroeder, Madisonville, Texas; and Mark (Erin) Schroeder, Kingsley, Iowa.
Teresa was thankful for having been an elementary teacher for 40 years including 10 years at St. Mary’s Catholic Elementary School, Wayne, and 30 years at Norfolk Catholic Elementary School, Norfolk, retiring in 2016. Teresa spent her last four years totally enjoying her part time job inthe baby room at the Sacred Heart Day Care Center. She has been honored to be nominated and selected to be inducted into the Norfolk Catholic Hall of Fame.
