Terence L. “Terry” Becker
WYNOT— Terence L. “Terry” Becker, 65, Wynot, died June 13, 2021, at the Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, S.D.
Mass of Christian Burial will be June 17, at 10:30 a.m., at Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church, Wynot, with the Rev. Jim Keiter officiating.
Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Wynot.
Visitation will be Wednesday, at church, from 5-8 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday, one hour prior to services.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.
Pallbearers will be Charles Svendgard, Bart Wuebben, Andy Wuebben, Tom Kolbeck, Darin Kolbeck and Dennis Promes.
Terence Lee was born Dec. 12, 1955, in Yankton, S.D., to Lawrence V. “Dewey” and Delores Marie (Wuebben) Becker. He grew up in Wynot and graduated from Wynot High School in 1974. He then attended Northeast Technical Community College, Norfolk, and received a degree in business. After college, he began working for John Deere at Gerry Miller Implement, Hartington. He worked in the parts department for ten years and then purchased his father’s business, Dewey’s Oil, Wynot. Terry eventually worked for Dennis Promes at Wynot Oil. He also worked for Butch’s Propane at the same time. Terry retired from Butch’s Propane just a few years ago.
Terry was a member of Holy Family (Sacred Heart) Catholic Church and its parish council. He was a past member of the Wynot Village Board and former mayor, and also a member of the Wynot Volunteer Fire Department. Terry always enjoyed golfing when he could.
Terry is survived by his wife, Jeannette, Wynot; son, Charles Svendgard, Viola, Idaho; five siblings, Carla Becker, Lincoln; Stan (Brock) Becker, Blaine, Wash.; Renee (Karl) Cole, Denison, Texas; Janet Becker, Lincoln; and Donna Becker, Lincoln; and mother-in-law, Donna Chappelear, Fremont.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents Dewey and Delores Becker; and father-in-law, Charles Chappelear.
