Shirley was born Jan. 26, 1937, in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Dennis and Ethel Ann Collins Provancha. She lived in Hartington, where she raised her family. She later moved to Bloomfield, before moving to Topeka to be closer to family.
Her family was the most im portant to her and she was the best Shirley Petersen
grandmother you could ever want.
She loved the holidays and enjoyed wearing silly hats to make p eople smile. Her hobbies were bingo, music, baking cookies and angel food cake for Easter, dancing, bike riding and roller skating, which had to be put on the back burner but was always talked about. She loved her birds like her mom. She had two Cockatiels.
Shirley’s faith in God was very important to her. She knew she would be in heaven when her time came but fought v ery hard to stay with her family as long as she could. She prayed for her family and friends that they would know J esus as she did. She will be waiting to greet us at the end of our journey with open arms.
