Sample ballots are coming out soon; ballots will be in the mail next week

HARTINGTON — Cedar County residents will get a peak at this year’s ballots when sample ballots are published in the three Cedar County newspapers Oct. 14.

Later that week, the official ballots will be mailed to every registered voter in the county.

Anyone that wants to vote in the Nov. 3 election, but is still not registered to vote, still has time to do so.

Cedar County Clerk Dave Dowling said Nebraskans have until Oct. 23 to register to vote. This is also the last day to file an affidavit as a writein candidate for election.

Dowling said a lot of literature has been distributed to state residents on how to get a ballot for this year’s election.

The USPS and Secretary of State have mailed notices and applications to everyone in the State, however, if you live in a county that has all mail elections like Cedar County and 10 other counties do, you don’t need to do anything, Dowling said.

“The biggest thing people need to be aware of is the fact that, if they are registered, they will receive a ballot in the mail with postage paid for return,” he said.

Dowling said ballots can be returned through the mail, placed in the drop box on the north side of the Courthouse or hand delivered to the County Clerk’s Office,
