Pierce County residents are warned
O’NEILL — North Central District Health Department (NCDHD) has been made aware of a concern of potential large community transmission of COVID-19 in Pierce County because of events that occurred during the 4th of July weekend.
NCDHD, in coordination with healthcare providers in the Pierce County communities, strongly encourages residents to take note of how they are feeling, and anyone who may be exhibiting symptoms outside of normal symptoms they may be experiencing during this time of year should isolate themselves in their homes and notify their provider. This includes removing yourself from participating in any upcoming activities. What does isolation mean? Isolation means that you stay in your home refraining from contact with the people you live with or outside of your home. Follow these steps as closely as possible to effectively isolate yourself from others.
• Isolate yourself in a room in your home that no other family members need access to, ideally with access to a bathroom no one else is using. It is important to stay in this area until you have been released from isolation orders by NCDHD or your medical provider.
• If you live with others, have them talk to you through a closed door, leave items like meals or other necessities outside a closed door and retrieve them after the person outside the door has left. Use disposable or paper plates and utensils when possible and disinfect surfaces before and after bringing supplies for a loved one.
• If living alone, have groceries, medications, and other necessary items delivered when possible. Request that these deliveries are left outside a closed door to the home and retrieve them after the delivery person has left.
• Ask family and friends refrain from visiting during this time. If they must come, visit through the door or window.
• It is important to note that if you feel you are developing severe symptoms and feel you need to seek medical attention, please call before arriving at the clinic or ER. This allows for healthcare providers to take appropriate measures before your arrival. If dialing 911, communicate with dispatch that you have concerns of COVID-19 related symptoms. This allows dispatch to communicate with EMS and First Responders to prepare to respond to the call appropriately.
NCDHD was made aware of three additional positive cases Friday evening in Pierce County. These cases are believed to be from community spread present in Pierce County, however investigations are currently ongoing. All close contacts at risk will be contacted.
In addition to the cases in Pierce County, there have been 10 addition cases in the district: two in Holt County, seven in Antelope County, and one in Knox County.
