Parishioners discuss building a new school here

HARTINGTON — About 20 members of Holy Trinity parish met Wednesday evening in the basement of the Knights of Columbus building to discuss the possibility of the erection of a new parish school.

The meeting was called by the pastor, the Right Reverend Monsignor B. H. Lordemann.

HARTINGTON — Smoke in the air at Hartington Thursday is said to be coming from the Black Hills where a forest fire has raged since Monday night, destroying 15,000 acres of timber 20 miles west of Rapid City, S.D.

Twelve hundred men have been at work checking the blaze. A northwest wind since Wednesday indicates that the fire is the cause of the smoke here.

HARTINGTON —The annual firemen’s dance sponsored by the Hartington Fire Department will be Friday, July 21 when both old and new time dance programs will be offered. Henry Collin’s Orchestra will play new time music at the Auditorium while Raeduchel’s Orchestra will play old time tunes at the Legion Pavilion.

HARTINGTON —Coyotes are on the increase along the Missouri river in the northeastern part of the county and some of them stray inland and prey on the farmer’s poultry.

HARTINGTON —Seven combines moving under their own power passed thru here Wednesday headed for the northern grain fields. With them were two additional tractors and a supply wagon. They were of various makes and sizes from four feet to ten feet. Observers said they were making about 25 miles an hour on the road.
