Noecker shows he’s one of the best in Neb.
KEARNEY — Carson Noecker never likes to feel like he didn’t give it 100 percent effort.
The Hartington-Newcastle cross country runner gave it his all last week to stay undefeated on the year, including winning the prestigious Nebraska-Kearney High School Cross Country Invitational.
He topped all runners — regardless of class size — to finish the race in 15:48.8.
The 5,000-meter event was held on the Nebraska State Meet Course.
Hartington-Newcastle finished 19th in the 38- team field.
The Hartington-Newcastle girls finished 27th in the Class C race, led by a 51st place finish by Sara Burbach (22:59.1).
The Hartington-Newcastle team will compete this week at the Lewis and Clark Conference Meet in Bloomfield.
They will compete Oct. 15 in the District C3 meet at the Albion Country Club.
Teams competing in that meet are:
Battle Creek, Boone Central, Columbus Lakeview, Columbus Scotus, Hartington, Logan View, Madison, O’Neill, Pierce, Wayne, West Point-Beemer and Winnebago.
The State Cross Country Meet will be held in Kearney Oct. 23.
