Musch Van Dyk
BOYDEN, Iowa —Musch Van Dyk, 69, Boyden, Iowa, died July 18, 2022, at Sanford Medical Center, Sioux Falls, S.D.
Funeral services were July 23 at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Boyden, with Rev. Mark Jamison officiating.
Burial was in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, rural Boyden.
Visitation with family present was July 22 at the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home, Boyden.
Arrangements were under the care of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home, Boyden.
Klothilde “Musch” Van Dyk, daughter of Eugene and Barbara (Mehl) Linek, was born March 20, 1953, in Forcheim, Germany. Musch grew up in Ebersbach, Germany, until the age of 9, when her parents and brother, Alois, moved to Erlangen, Germany. Musch graduated from high school and attended two years of beauty school and worked as a beautician. Musch met and married Eldon Van Dyk while he was stationed in Erlangen Nov. 19, 1970. Eldon and Musch moved back to the United States in 1971, where they made their home in Boyden, Iowa, for 51 years. Musch worked for K-Products of Orange City, Iowa, and the Gross Shop, Sioux Center, Iowa, prior to starting a family.
Musch was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Boyden, and she was active in the Legion Auxiliary.
Her true passion was children, baking, and crafting. For 38 years, Musch opened her home up to numerous families, providing childcare to the community of Boyden and surrounding area. Musch loved flower gardening, decorating her home for all the holidays throughout the year, and baking for friends and family. She had a great sense of style and loved pop culture. She was always current with the latest music and songs from today. She loved to watch “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy!” She had a great sense of humor, quick wit, and was not afraid to set you straight.
Survivors include, Eldon Van Dyk, Boyden; two daughters and their families, April (Scott) Heimes, Hartington, and Jessica (Kory) Veenis, Sioux Falls, S.D.; six grandchildren, Owen, Nolan, Marek and Landry Heimes, Hartington; and Madilynn and Maverick Veenis, Sioux Falls, S.D.; her mother, Barbara Linek, and brother, Alois Linek, both of Erlangen, Germany; her mother-in-law, June Van Dyk, Boyden, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Sheryl Kruse, Sioux Falls, S.D.; sister-in-law, Sandra (Robert) Goeringer, Hull, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Linek, Aug. 19, 1983; father-in-law, Daniel Van Dyk, Sept. 12, 2008; and brother-in-law, Larry Kruse, Aug. 19, 2019.
