Merlin C. “Fuzz” Meier

NORFOLK — Memorial services for Merlin C. “Fuzz” Meier, 95, Norfolk will be 10:30 a.m., July 15, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, Norfolk. Rev. Robert Wiest will officiate, with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk.

The service will also be live streamed on the funeral home website.

Military honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1644, American Legion Post 16, and Army National Guard Honor Guard.

Visitation will be Sunday, from 4-7 p.m., at Home for Funerals Chapel, Norfolk.

Merlin died July 7, 2024, at The Meadows in Norfolk.

Merlin Carl “Fuzz” Meier, son of Richard and Minnie (Steffen) Meier, was bom July 6,1929, in Coleridge. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Coleridge. Merlin was the last living child in his family of six siblings.

After graduation from high school, Merlin joined the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. Merlin married Shirley G. Miller Dec. 30,1971, in Norfolk.

He enjoyed traveling with his sister, Willie, and her husband, Vern, road tripping all over the United States until the stash of cash in the glove box ran out. Merlin loved vintage tractors, volunteered at the veteran’s home, was a past VFW commander, and an elder at Mount Olive Lutheran Church. He loved life, taking care of others, spending time with his family, was generous and giving, and adored the family dogs.

Merlin is survived by his children, Robert Bremer and Kevin (Gayle) Bremer; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; brothers, Jim, Lloyd and Dick Meier; sisters, Ida Searls and Willie Provancha; and step daughters, Kim Kaufman and Karla Bremer.
