Members of the Coleridge Rescue Squad and Coleridge Volunteer Fire Dept. were recently presented “Code Save” Awards by Nebraska Dept. of Health and Human Services. Code Save Awards recognize those individuals who saved a patient’s life with the use of Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and/or automated external defibrillator. In December, 2022, Coleridge EMS were paged to a home for an unresponsive party. Upon arrival, the patient was found to have a pulse, and was breathing, so was immediately prepared for transport. Enroute to the hospital, the patient’s condition worsened and CPR was initiated, until arrival at an area hospital, where Emergency Room staff took over. The patient recovered completely, and was released from the hospital within a few days. Coleridge EMTs responding to the call were (back row) George Hefner, Rod Benson, Jeff Wemhoff, and Alisha Stone. (front row) Alya Thoene, Melissa Lordemann, and Heather Hall. They were assisted on the call by Coleridge Volunteer Firefighters. Alya Thoene was an EMS student participating in her class required ride-alongs, and provided assistance as well. They were all awarded a certificate and pin, presented by EMS President Alisha Stone, on behalf of the State of Nebraska
