Man allegedly assaults deputy, jailer
HARTINGTON - An inmate who allegedly attempted to bite a deputy’s arm and allegedly struck a dispatcher’s face with his knee will face multiple felony charges.
The dispatcher/jailer and deputy were attempting to move Jackson Metheny, 25, Laurel, into a different cell due to Metheny allegedly destroying Cedar County jail property.
The alleged assault on Aug. 8 netted Metheny felony charges including two counts of assault by a confined person, two counts of assault of an officer, two counts of obstructing a peace officer and criminal mischief.
Metheny was being held in jail on charges stemming from an incident earlier that same day. It was reported that Metheny had entered into a rural Laurel home without permission and was in a young woman’s bedroom.
It’s alleged that Metheny knew the young woman’s parents weren’t home due to interactions via social media.
He faces misdemeanor charges of first-degree criminal trespassing and disturbing the peace from that incident.
In both arrests, deputies noted Metheny seemed confused and made statements that didn’t make sense.
At one point in his jail cell, he appeared to be having a conversation but he was alone, court documents indicate.
