YORK— Lorraine E. (Brunssen) Meyer, 89, York, died Jan. 7, 2023, in York.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Jan. 11, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, York, with the Rev. Father John Sullivan officiating. Services will also be live streamed at www.youtube. com/channel/UCl1ffBwglpCqu7nKkx-42SzQ.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, east of York.

Visitation was Tuesday with her family greeting friends that same evening at the mortuary.

Metz Mortuary, York, is handling arrangements.

Lorraine was born April 22, 1933, in Randolph, to Herman and Alvena (Thaden) Brunssen. She attended County School District 38, Cedar County, through eighth grade. She graduated from Randolph High School in 1950. After helping on the farm through the summer, she attended Norfolk Business College and worked part time in Norfolk as a stenographer. After graduation from college, she was employed at Securities Finance Corp., Norfolk, as a stenographer, cashier and loan clerk. Lorraine married Paul B. Meyer Jan. 10, 1953, at Pierce. They had six children, Michael, Paula, Loren, Daryl, Karen and David. They moved to York in May 1954. Lorraine helped Paul with his appliance store prior to working at Dale Electronics as a timekeeper until the plant closed.

Lorraine enjoyed helping with Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. Lorraine and Paul enjoyed traveling, taking many trips in their motorhome. She raised a large garden and spent many hours canning and freezing the ha rvest. Lorraine loved cooking, baking and sewing.

Lorraine is survived by her children, Paula (Bill) Brandenburgh, Bellwood; Loren Meyer, Stromsburg; Karen (Jeff) Horton,Americus, Kan.; and David Meyer and special friend, Stephanie Schall, York; daughters-in-law, Karen (Lulow) Meyer, Grand Island, and Sherri (Paulson) Meyer, Albion; brothers, Alvin Brunssen, Lee’s Summit, Mo., and Harold (Berdine) Brunssen, Coleridge; sister-in-law, Carol Brunssen, Randolph; grandchildren, Ted (LoAmmy) Rodewald, San Tan Valley, Ariz.; Kristi (Dan) O’Brien , Bettendorf, Iowa; Tyson (Erin) Meyer, Hordville; Matthew (Jessi) Meyer, Batavia, Ill.; Dustin (Jessica) Meyer, Clarks; Skyler Meyer and Alysa Meyer, Lincoln; 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 61 years, Paul; sons, Michael and Daryl; brother, Melvin Brunssen; sister-in-law, Marjory Brunssen; niece, Ramona Bell; and nephew, David Brunssen.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Ass ociation.
