Local youth earn honors for “1000 Books Before Kindergarten”

HARTINGTON — Grace Rolfes, daughter of Grant and Lisa Rolfes, received a medal, a certificate of completion, a final prize and a free book from the library for reading “1000 Books before Kindergarten.” Grace is 3 years old and will attend Pre-School at Hartington-Newcastle School the fall of 2024. Grace likes coming to the library to play with the Legos. Her favorite books are about animals and Ninja Turtles, with her favorite characters being Raphael and Spiderman.

Jagger also received his medal, a certificate of completion, a final prize and a free book from the library for reading “1000 Books Before Kindergarten.” Jagger likes coming to the library to play with the Lego table. Some of his favorite books are about dinosaurs and all of the Old Lady books. He also loves it when Miss Kim visits his grandma’s daycare and brings the Old Lady along.

Great job to moms and dads for instilling the love of books and reading at a young age.
