Library is hosting a coffee, book signing for Charleen (Feilmeier) Meyer

HARTINGTON — The public is invited for coffee and a book signing with children’s author, Charleen Meyer, at the Hartington Public Library, from 10-11 a.m., June 28. Meyer is the author of the “Sunflower Seed Caper,” along with eight other children’s books.

Charleen (Feilmeier) Meyer lives in central Missouri with her husband, Dennis. They grew up in Hartington.

Meyer is a long-time homemaker who wears many hats, and is the proud mother of four children, grandmother of four grandsons and two granddaughters. Meyer had a long-time desire to write children’s books. In 1997, after her friend, Wanda, heard the funny incident that happened in Charleen’s back yard with squirrels and a bird feeder, she encouraged Meyer to write a story about it. Meyer answered an ad in a magazine for writing children’s books and took the class online. Years later at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia, Mo., she met Madge H. Gressley who was interested in her “Sunflower Seed Caper” story. The book went to the publisher in 2015. Since then, she has published eight books and plans to keep writing.
