LCC volleyball team features a lot of youth
LAUREL - The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Lady Bears have put themselves in position for a grand run into the 2024 season and a grand run into the new conference the Lady Bears are joining this fall.
Gone is the Lewis & Clark Conference and enter the Greater Northeast Activities Conference (GNAC) to give LCC it’s spot in the big scheme of things as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
“We had a great season last year,” Laurel-Concord-Colerdige coach, Julie Kvols said. “The girls lost in the first round of sub-district to a very good, Cedar Catholic team. We played hard all season and grew in every game.”
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge finished the 2023 season with a 23-10 record and return three players that earned post season accolades.
Two incoming sophomores, setter Carlie Kvols and middle blocker, Rena Rasmussen were named All-Conference last season in the Lewis & Clark Conference as freshmen. Teammate, Tali Erwin was tabbed honorable mention in the conference while Kvols and Rasmussen were named honorable mention all-state by the Omaha World Herald.
Seniors Lainey Schutte, Avery Hahne and Bailey Graf return for the Lady Bears along with a junior, Tyler Recob.
Coach Kvols is also looking at a couple of additional sophomores, Kaida Eriksen and Hattie McCorkindale and senior, Alexys Hahne to find the court this fall.
LCC opens its season Aug. 29 on the road in a triangular with West Point-Beemer and Battle Creek in West Point.
