Lady Trojans hit the links at Wayne

WAYNE - The Cedar Catholic Lady Trojan golf team competed in the Wayne Invitational here at the Wayne Country Club on Sept. 26 and ended up 13th in the 19-team tournament after carding a 462 as a team.

Wayne won the tournament shooting a 364, Columbus Scotus was second with a 370 and Laurel-Concord- Coleridge was third as the Lady Bears fired a school record 385.

West Holt and Battle Creek rounded out the top five with 386 and 404 respectively.

Daleni Knust of West Holt was the medalist after firing a 79, two shots in front of Joslyn Johnson of Wayne. Quinn VunCannon of Scotus was third with an 83 and Rylee Altwine of Pierce was fourth with an 89.

Cedar Catholic’s Maggie Dendinger had the low round for the Lady Trojans with a 110 which put her in 40th position, Camryn Loecker (48th) carded a 114, Olivia Kleinschmit (49th) shot a 115, Lauren Potts (60th) came in at 123 and Josie Heine (62nd) got around the course in 124 strokes.

As the golf season winds down, The Lady Trojans are set to travel to O’Neill on Oct. 3 for the Mid-State Conference Meet before heading back to the Wayne Country Club for the C-3 District Golf Meet on Oct. 7.

The top three teams and the top 10 individuals in the district will advance to the Class C State Golf Tourney Oct. 14 and 15 at Lake Maloney Golf Course in North Platte.
