Kevin John “Kraz” Sudbeck
HARTINGTON — Kevin John “Kraz” Sudbeck, 69, Hartington, died May 7, 2023, at his residence, under hospice care.
There will be a visitation May 12, from 5-7 p.m., with a Vigil service at 7 p.m., at the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington. Burial of his cremated remains will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral of Hartington.
A celebration of life will take place at 302 S. Oak Avenue, Hartington, following the Vigil service Friday night.
Kevin John was born Sept. 1, 1953, in Yankton, S.D., to Arthur F. and Rose T. (Burbach) Sudbeck. He grew up in Bow Valley, and attended elementary school there. Kevin graduated from Hartington Cedar Catholic High School in 1972. Kevin began working for Radec Construction in Hartington, then worked the majority of his career with Hartington Concrete (later Hartland & Gerhold Concrete) pouring concrete and driving a concrete truck.
Kevin belonged to Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Besides work as his “hobby” Kevin loved fishing, camping, bonfires and camp fires. Spending time with his grandchildren was always a highlight for him.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Jacalyn “Jaci,” Hartington; three children, Amy (John) Green, Hartington; Dawn Dingle, Hartington; and Jeremy (Sara) Sudbeck, Randolph; nine grandchildren, Parker, CJ, Toby, Donny, Alexia, Aida, Braxton, Jamison and Grayson; four brothers and spouses, Don (Gloria) Sudbeck, Omaha; Lloyd (Janice) Sudbeck, Bow Valley; Claire (Deanna) Sudbeck, Yankton, S.D.; and Dave (Annette) Sudbeck, Coleridge; two sisters and spouses, Mary Jean (Jerry) Uhing, Omaha, and Sharon (Jerry) Schmidt, Fort Collins, Colo.; sisters-in-law, Karen Sudbeck, Blair, and Jeanne Sudbeck, Omaha; and many nieces and nephews.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents; stillborn son, Jason; brothers, Henry and Claude Sudbeck; a sister, Dolores Hochstein; brother-in-law, Merlin Hochstein; sisters-in-law, Lisa Bohlken; parents- in-law, Monica and Jule Dean Bohlken.
