HNS hires two more teachers
HARTINGTON — The Hartington-Newcastle School Board agreed to hire two new teachers at Monday’s meeting.
Billie Wortmann will be a new elementary school teacher at the school. She is currently teaching third grade at Hayes Center.
Dylan Behnk was hired as the new elementary school music teacher on an interim basis to replace Joan Hankins, who submitted her resignation earlier this year. Behnk was a student teacher at HNS this school year.
Supt. A.J. Johnson said this fills all of the school’s vacant teaching positions.
Longtime art teacher Laura Noecker announced earlier this year she planned to retire at the end of this year, but a new teacher is not coming in to replace her. Instead, Lori Peitz, who has a teaching endorsement in art, will move from junior high math and science to art. Peitz will then be replaced by Tylor Fincher, who is currently teaching sixth grade. Wortmann will then join the elementary staff in a yet undetermined role.
Also Monday the Board approved a resolution supporting a Cedar-Dixon County hazard mitigation plan.
